David Tsay Photography Promotion
If you’re a photographer, it’s not enough anymore to take great photographs — you have to take great photographs and present your work in a way that grabs attention and makes them want to see more.
That’s why L.A.-based lifestyle photographer David Tsay asked Project 13 to help him design a direct mail promotion that would get noticed. Beyond his amazing photography, David’s portfolio demonstrates an attention to detail, a strong sense of design and his adventurous personality. We worked closely with him and his agency, Kate Ryan Inc., to develop a unique piece that showcases these strengths.
Using David’s handwriting for a personal touch, we incorporated images from various shoots from around the country, as well as road maps, parking coupons and postcards to take recipients of the piece on an eight-page Road Trip.
Adding to the experience is a distinctive binding technique that allows the cover to unfold into a poster while keeping the body of the book attached. A clear pocket adhered to the cover contains two postcards – one David wrote from the road to his friends at Kate Ryan Inc, featuring all of the agency’s pertinent contact information, and a blank that recipients can use to send to a friend or to KRI requesting a portfolio.
Targeting some of the top agencies in the country, David’s mailer creatively invites decision-makers to join him on a travel adventure — and successfully gets them to take a closer look at his portfolio.
