Urban Jazz Naturals Identity
To stand out in the crowded independent music scene, you need a distinct sound. It doesn’t hurt to have a distinct brand, either—a recognizable symbol that the loyal and the curious alike can spot at a distance on your flyers, album covers, posters, and merchandise.
Urban Jazz Naturals was already connecting with audiences with their jazz/soul sound, a pulsing groove that combined the electronic thump of dance music with urgent passion of live instruments. To make the connection with their branding, they turned to Project 13.
We developed an identity featuring a silhouette of the band, with the lead singer Dawn Weber standing out in a curious pose, trumpet in hand. Working with Scott Smith Photography, we designed the band’s first self-released album for vinyl and CD, as well as promotional flyers, posters, and ads, plus professional collateral material they could use when communicating with booking agents and major-label suitors.
